Philippos Petsalnikos is apparently the new prime minister of Greece. His candidacy was agreed from both parties, but reports claim that senior members of the socialist PASOK party are very angry with the choice since Petsalnikos is just another extension of outgoing premier George Papandreou. Main opposition New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras accepted Papandreou’s proposal for Petsalnikos since he can lead the transitional government that will in return lead the country towards national elections in mid February. On his part Papandreou agreed on appointing Byron Polydoras as the new President of Parliament A formal announcement is expected to be made any minute.
