Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has reportedly discovered two sixth century Greek urns, while scuba diving at an archaeological site off the Taman peninsular in southern Russia. According to Russian news agencies, Putin went scuba diving in the Black Sea on Wednesday and found the artifacts after diving just 6.6 feet below the sea’s surface.
Television footage showed two moss-covered vases with ear-like handles with Putin swimming into view. “Treasure!” Fox News quoted Putin, as having told reporters travelling with him. When asked if there was anything left in the jars, he said: “They drank it all already”.
In his previous efforts to woo young Russian voters, Putin had paraded his physical prowess by trying to bend a frying pan with his bare hands, scaling an artificial climbing wall, and taking part in an arm wrestling contest.
Putin had also flown a fighter jet into Chechnya, descended to the bottom of Lake Baikal in a special deep-sea vessel and performed the daring feat of chasing whales off Russia’s Pacific coast last year. (ANI)
