Bulgarian police officers will be dispatched to those northern holiday resorts of Greece popular with Bulgarian tourists during the summer. They will be there to assist their Greek colleagues and act as mediators between Greek police and the tourists. Teams of six Bulgarian police officers will be sent to Greece on a rotational basis, the private television channel bTV reported on July 12 2011.
The Bulgarian officers will be unarmed but will patrol alongside their Greek colleagues and bridge the communication gap whenever there are Bulgarian tourists that cause concern. The Greek authorities have issued a warning to all Bulgarian motorists that they must follow traffic rules meticulously or face stiff fines.
